<p>Quite often insurance lead generation can fall into two main categories depending on the nature of the products being sold.</p>

<p>1. The use of affiliate sites, price comparison sites, and TV advertising etc are incredibly useful and  cost effective tools for the generation of mass market insurance leads for industries such as:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>- Car and Vehicle insurance</p>
<p>- Home Insurance</p>
<p>- Pet insurance</p>
<p>- Travel insurance</p>
<p>- and assorted other mass market consumer insurances.</p>

My IFA operates almost exclusively on word of mouth referrals. He loves it when I send one of my buddies down to him. I get the satisfaction of knowing I&#8217;ve helped out a friend by putting them in touch with a great mortgage advisor, and my advisor gets another set of commission. I don&#8217;t get anything from my IFA, no kickback, discount or gifts. Just some good, honest word of mouth referrals.</p>

<p>Free mortgage leads that are truly free are only ever going to be generated by word of mouth referrals from happy existing customers. I should know, because I am one, and my IFA usually gets at least one or two appointments out of me every quarter.. and I&#8217;m sure he gets the same from a lot of his other clients too!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Free mortgage leads are readily advertised across the internet. My understanding is that it&#8217;s a good way for companies to hook you in to their services so you can see the benefit of the leads they generate, without the need for any up front payment. It&#8217;s the marketing equivalent of a free taster in a sipermarket, or a test drive at a car dealers. Try before you buy.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is not to say that free mortgage leads are not a valuable part of the mortgage leads industry, because they are. Lead generation companies need to often supply these free mortgage leads to entice new customers as part of their own lead generation activities. Just be careful to take a good thorough look at what the company is offering after they supply you with free mortgage leads, and don&#8217;t be afraid to shop around and see who has the best deal!</p>
